e-Patient Dave shares patient engagement message with Providence


"e-Patient Dave” deBronkart spoke to Providence Health & Services Alaska employees and internal staff about the patient engagement movement and how health care is being transformed by participatory medicine. More than 80 caregivers attended two sessions – one for Providence Cancer Center and oncology staff and the other for providers – at Providence Alaska Medical Center on Sept. 14 to learn about different ways to improve communication with patients.​​​

The event was funded by The Carol Treadwell Endowment, held at Providence Alaska Foundation and established by Mead Treadwell to memorialize his wife, Carol Treadwell, who died of brain cancer in October of 2002. Funded by the endowment and awarded on an annual basis, the Treadwell Visiting Fellow program helps bring cutting-edge cancer information to the Anchorage Community. “e-Patient Dave” is a Stage IV cancer survivor, author, medical journal editor and internationally recognized speaker on patient engagement. ​
