Select from the following list of conditions to find out more about the diagnosis and treatment, and what you should expect...
A recurring pain or discomfort in the chest that happens when some part of the heart does not receive enough blood. It is a common symptom of coronary heart disease (CHD), which occurs when vessels that carry blood to the heart become narrowed and blocked due to atherosclerosis.
(heart rhythm irregularity)
Abnormalities in the rhythm of the heartbeat. The heart may beat too slowly or too rapidly and the condition may be benign or serious.
Congestive Heart Failure
Heart failure means your heart is not pumping blood effectively enough to meet the needs of your body. It is sometimes called congestive heart failure because congestion of the lungs causes some of the main symptoms of heart failure.
Coronary Artery Disease
Coronary artery disease (CAD) happens when the arteries feeding the heart muscle become narrowed by the build up of plaque (fatty material) on the inner walls. This build up reduces blood flow to the heart muscle, decreasing the oxygen available to the muscle.
A heart attack is also called a myocardial infarction, or MI for short. When blood flow to part of the heart is stopped, oxygen and fuel cannot reach the pumping muscle. Like all tissue heart muscle dies without oxygen and fuel. The greater the area affected by the blockage the larger the injured area of heart muscle.
