More than 30 orthopedic surgeons practice at Providence. By using the most advanced medical technologies available, our physicians are able to treat virtually every bone and joint in the body. Providence's orthopedic physicians provide a broad range of specialized care that's both first-rate and personal. Our surgeons are board certified, some with advanced training in key sub-specialties, including spine, hand, shoulder, hip and knee surgeries.

 

Physician spotlight

​Douglas P. Prevost, MD
Anchorage Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic
Dr. Prevost has been an orthopedic surgeon for more than 12 years. He specializes in tissue-preserving total joint replacement of the hip and knee as well as revision total hip and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Prevost also has extensive experience in complex fracture management and sports medicine injuries.

John Duddy, MD
Alaska Orthopedic Surgeons
Dr. Duddy is a board certified orthopedic surgeon practicing in Alaska since 1999. He came to Alaska after completing his medical and orthopedic training at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He is interested in orthopedic and spinal conditions afflicting patients of all ages.

Stephen Tower, MD
Anchorage Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic
Dr. Tower specializes in primary and revision hip, knee and shoulder operations. He has published award-winning research on hip replacements. Dr. Tower began practicing in Alaska as a surgeon at Alaska Native Medical Center and has been in private practice here for almost 20 years.

John Lapkass, MD
Anchorage Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic
Dr. Lapkass has a special interest in sports medicine. He enjoys arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, shoulder arthroscopy and instability repair, and rotator cuff repair. Dr. Lapkass is one of the only orthopedists Anchorage who performs total elbow replacements and hip arthroscopy.

Jeffrey Moore, MD
Alaska Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine
Dr. Moore has been serving Anchorage and Eagle River since 2001. He is a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Moore is the head team physician for the Alaska Aces and UAA athletics.
