Providence Seward Swing Bed Program

The social security act permits certain small, rural hospitals like Providence Seward Medical Center, to enter into a swing bed agreement. This allows us to use our beds, as needed, to provide either Acute or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) care. As defined in the regulations, a swing bed hospital is one that has Center for Medicare/Medicaid (CMS) approval to provide post-hospital extended care services furnished in a swing bed hospital.

Anyone can be a swing bed patient; however Medicare recipients must have a three day inpatient stay before they are eligible for swing bed status.

There’s no place like home!
When patients are sent far away for critical care needs, they are often in a vastly different setting, sometimes hundreds of miles away from family, friends and culture. After the critical care needs are resolved, people like to return to their home setting for extended care.

Our team of physicians are all board certified in Family Medicine and have extensive backgrounds in a range of services all designed to provide the care you need for a successful recovery. They are committed to rural practice and want patients to return to their community and home for the vital services that may be needed to ensure the road to recovery is smooth. Our physicians understand the importance of recovering in your community.

Our swing bed program offers:
  • A team of Board Certified Family Practice Physicians
  • Skilled Nursing Services
  • A team of skilled Rehabilitation Therapists who provide services seven days a week
