Providence Alaska Medical Center selected as candidate for the LIVESTRONG Community Impact Project grant

Providence Alaska Medical Center has been selected as a grant funding candidate for the LIVESTRONG Community Impact Project, which was created to bring cancer support programs to communities across the United States.

Grant recipients will be determined through an online voting campaign that began Wednesday, March 7.

Providence Alaska Medical Center is among many organizations still in contention for the award. If selected, Providence Alaska Medical will use the awarded funds to achieve accreditation in Palliative Care by the Joint Commission to improve the care of patients and families of patients with cancer and other serious illnesses.

“We are thrilled and honored to be selected as a candidate for the Community Impact Project,” said Stephen Rust, MD of the Palliative Care program at Providence Alaska Medical Center.  “We share LIVESTRONG’s passion for inspiring and empowering people affected by cancer and look forward to working together to make a difference in the lives of cancer survivors and their families.”
