Rona Norelius, M.D., joins Providence Medical Group Pediatric Surgery


ANCHORAGE, AK – Rona Norelius, M.D., has joined Providence Medical Group Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Norelius is skilled in treating surgical diseases in all stages of childhood development, from the hours after birth to the teenage years.

Dr. Norelius, who comes to Providence from Colorado Springs, Colo., earned her medical degree from Baylor University College of Medicine in Houston. She completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Rochester in New York and then was a pediatric surgery fellow at University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, completing her fellowship in 2011. Prior to joining Providence Medical Group, Dr. Norelius was medical director of surgical services at Children’s Hospital Colorado in Colorado Springs. Dr. Norelius was named Colorado Springs’ “Top Doc in Pediatric Surgery” in 2013 and 2014 and has written about pediatric trauma, thermal, electrical and chemical injuries.

“I have experience treating all aspects of pediatric surgery, particularly minimally invasive, or laparoscopic and thoracoscopic, surgery,” said Dr. Norelius. “Most parents don’t expect their child to need surgery so it can be a very stressful time. We understand that and strive to answer questions with compassion and understanding while providing excellent care.”

Providence Medical Group Pediatric Surgery offers services and experience in the entire spectrum of problems in children of all ages, sizes and maturity levels, including minimally invasive repair of chest wall deformities, surgical care of newborn and premature infants, hernia repair, anal malformation as well as pediatric endocrine surgery and surgical oncology.
