Early Pregnancy

Every pregnancy is unique and special. Early pregnancy is a time of excitement and lots of questions. As part of our commitment to support families, we are here to answer any question you may have and encourage you to ask us all of your questions – no matter how big or small. The following are some common questions we hear from moms early in their pregnancies:
Q: How do I find a doctor or midwife to deliver my baby?
A: Check out Find a Doctor on our website. This is a list of all doctors and midwives who deliver babies at Providence.
Q: When should I register with the hospital?
A: You can register at any time during your pregnancy. You need to complete a one page form and mail it back to Providence. Call 907-212-3149 to have it mailed to your home. Forms are also available from our Admitting Department or the Providence Maternity Center.
Q:  Will my insurance cover all costs?
A:  Before you are admitted to the hospital, find out what your insurance plan covers. Nurses are unable to answer insurance questions. You will need to know if your plan requires preauthorizations for maternity services; if the plan covers you as well as your baby; what the authorized length of stay is for vaginal and cesarean births; what insurance coverage your baby will have and what the procedure is to add your new baby onto your insurance plan.
