Extra Life gaming fundraiser to benefit The Children's Hospital at Providence, Oct. 16-17
24-hour gaming marathon raised $31,000 during 2014 campaign
– Providence Alaska Foundation and 907 Gamers will host a 24-hour gaming fundraiser to benefit The Children’s Hospital at Providence from Friday, Oct. 16, to Saturday, Oct. 17, in the Alaska Airlines Center auxiliary gym. Extra Life is a Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising program that has been growing rapidly since its inception in 2010. Extra Life raised $31,000 for The Children’s Hospital at Providence during the 2014 campaign.
Doors will open at 4 p.m. on Oct. 16 with remarks starting at 7:30 p.m. and the gaming kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m. Gamers will continue through 8 p.m. on Oct. 17.
Extra Life is open to all gaming consoles/platforms: PC, console and table-top games are welcome. Participants must provide all their own equipment. The event is free to attend; each gamer admitted must be a registered Extra Life user and must actively fundraise for The Children’s Hospital at Providence. Seating is first-come, first-serve, and is open to all ages, though gamers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the event duration.
Professional gamer Dave “Walshy” Walsh will attend the event and participate via live stream. Walshy is widely regarded as one of the most successful Halo players.
Broadband for the event will be donated by GCI. Prizes are courtesy of Alaska Airlines, Xbox and Pepsi will be distributed to the top fundraisers.
For gamers who cannot attend the Extra Life event in the Alaska Airlines Center but would like to participate, there’s the option of gaming at home or at another location with friends. Gamers can choose the date and time they’d like to have their own gaming marathon with proceeds still benefitting The Children’s Hospital at Providence
