Kate Mohr joins Providence as assistant chief nurse executive for women’s and children’s services


ANCHORAGE, AK – Kate Mohr, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, has accepted the role of assistant chief nurse executive for women’s and children’s services at Providence Alaska Medical Center. Kate comes to Providence from Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, Va., where she served as nursing director for the women’s/children’s and radiology areas.


During Kate’s tenure, Virginia Commonwealth received Magnet status and women’s services received a Center of Excellence designation from National Institutes of Health. She also led a major renovation of the Labor & Delivery Unit and Perinatal Evaluation Center.

“As Providence looks forward to modernizing and expanding our women’s and children’s services, Kate’s experience will be invaluable,” said Debra Hansen, RN, MS, NE-BC, chief nurse executive at Providence Alaska Medical Center.
Kate’s background spans 30 years in nursing and nursing leadership positions. She has served as nurse manager at Duke University Medical Center’s birthing center, staff nurse at Westchester County Medical Center’s neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, and staff nurse in labor and delivery at North Central Bronx Municipal Hospital.
She holds a master’s of science in nursing administration from Duke University. Kate is also a graduate of the Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute. Her bachelor of science in nursing is from the College of New Rochelle.
