Kim Pakney named to National Association Medical Staff Services board

Providence Alaska Medical Center’s Medical Staff Services manager joins national panel.
ANCHORAGE, AK – Kim Pakney, manager of Providence Alaska Medical Center’s Medical Staff Services Department, was recently appointed to the board of directors for the National Association Medical Staff Services.
The National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) serves to enhance the professional development of and recognition for professionals in the medical staff and credentialing services field. NAMSS’ vision is to advance a health care environment that maximizes the patient experience through the delivery of quality services. NAMSS membership includes medical staff and credentialing services professionals from medical group practices, hospitals, managed care organizations and credentials verifications organizations.

Kim’s leadership in Medical Staff Services means patients can rest assured that all physicians who practice at Providence are licensed and credentialed.”
At the local level, Kim has served as Alaska Association of Medical Staff Professionals president, board member and founder. At the national level for NAMSS, Kim has served as Certification Commission chair and vice chair as well as member of various committees, teams and workgroups.
Kim has served as manager of Medical Staff Services since 2005. Previously, she worked for Valley Hospital Association, Alaska Native Medical Center, Providence Alaska Medical Center, and Alaska Regional Hospital. She is also a certified Provider Credentialing Specialist, is certified in Provider Medical Services Management, and is nationally published on topics related to credentialing and medical staff services.
