The Walk to Remember, Saturday Aug. 14
Remembering all those who have gone through pregnancy and child loss
The Walk to Remember is a nationwide annual event that occurs in recognition of all pregnancy losses, including miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, fetal deaths and neonatal deaths, as well as the loss of a child. The Walk to Remember is co-sponsored by Parents Reaching Out and The Children's Hospital at Providence. PRO is a support group for parents who have had a prenatal loss in Alaska.
The rest of the nation commemorates this day in October but because of Alaska's early snow fall, the walk will be held here Saturday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. starting at Providence Alaska Medical Center and continuing to University Lake, then back to Providence for a small reception. At 9 a.m. there will be an opportunity to write a message on a balloon that will later be released after a few words are spoken in memory of those who have passed.
This is a family-friendly event, and all are invited.
